Official WhatsApp vs GB WhatsApp and What Can be Improved?

Hello, friends. If you are a regular user of WhatsApp and have heard about other WhatsApp-like applications or more familiar term WhatsApp MODs like GBWhatsApp with more features, then you must be wondering – what are these apps?

Are these safe to use? And what’s the difference between these apps and WhatsApp? Well, in this post, you will answer all your questions.

A Little About WhatsApp

Released in 2009 by Meta, WhatsApp is an instant-messaging & communication application available on Android, iOS, Mac & Windows. Users can send text messages, images, videos, and documents as well as live locations with others. It also features voice-over-IP service that allows them to audio call and also video call their loved ones anytime they want.

WhatsApp Secure Message

WhatsApp’s greatest asset is its end-to-end encryption powered by Signal Protocol which ensures that no one can read, view, or listen to what is sent between you & the one you’re communicating with. Your chats & calls are fully secure and private. Apart from the encryption, the rate of fake accounts is relatively nill as compared to other messaging platforms as it works directly with the user’s mobile number and only one account can be made per number.

What is GB WhatsApp?

GBWhatsApp Features

GBWhatsApp is the modified version of WhatsApp developed by third-party developers. It was first introduced in 2014 and after that, many WhatsApp MODs were created by other developers. But not all of them gained popularity as GB WhatsApp did. Even now, it’s used by millions of users.

The features that made it popular among users are anti-delete, DND mode, hiding online status, and sharing larger media files which are not possible in official WA. Other features are its huge collection of themes, ability to customize the interface & various sections, auto-reply, and message schedular.

No matter how attractive the features of GBWhatsApp and other WhatsApp MODs seem, none of these MODs are official applications. So, you will not find them on the Play Store and Apple Store.

Difference Between WhatsApp & GB WhatsApp

GB WA vs Whatsapp

After looking at the comparison table, you may get an idea of the differences between official WA and GBWA. To make it more clear, we have explained all these differences in detail below. Please read them for more detailed information.

End-to-End Encryption

End-to-end encryption ensures that only you and the person you’re communicating with will read, view & listen to what you two share in the chat. None other than you two can access that chat’s data. It’s the most important feature of a communication application.

WhatsApp – The official WA has end-to-end encryption and that’s why billions of people are using it regularly. It’s the very essence of the app and keeps the users’ chats private and secure.

GBWhatsApp – It doesn’t have end-to-end encryption which means the chats are not secure and are exposed to anyone controlling the server. They can read your messages.

Media Sharing Limit

WhatsApp – In it, you can select up to 30 images at once, a document of up to 100 MB, and a status of 30 seconds. It doesn’t support media sharing above that limit. You will need to select images again to share more than 30 images and upload the status into 30-second segments if longer than the limit.

GBWhatsApp – All these limits are increased in this MOD. You can select as many images as you want and upload a status of up to 7 minutes. The document size limit is also increased to 1 GB.

WhatsApp – It has only two themes – Light & Dark. So, you are stuck with only either a white interface or a dark interface, There’s nothing you can do to change it.

GBWhatsApp – It includes a huge library of themes that allows you to give a unique look to the app. You can select any theme you like from its 4000+ theme collection. You will find themes of all categories from abstract, anime, animals, bikes, etc. to galaxies, planets, movies, tanks, dynamic colors, etc.

WhatsApp – In the official WhatsApp, you can only change two things such as font size, and background wallpaper. The background wallpaper will be the same for all chats. There’s nothing else customizable.

GBWhatsApp – It comes with a fully customizable interface. You can the color and style of any section such as the navigation bar, status bar, top section, background, chat bubble style, conversation list, floating action button, etc. You can use a different background for each contact chat. Moreover, you can edit the WhatsApp logo shown at the top left corner of the home screen.

WhatsApp – It’s the official application. It’s available on all app stores such as Play Store, Apple App Store, and Microsoft Store. You can also download its APK from trusted websites.

GBWhatsApp – It’s an unofficial application and you will not find it on any app store. It’s only available for Android devices and you need to download its APK from trusted websites.

Online Visibility

Online, last seen, typing, recording, second & blue ticks, these are the statuses people use to check about your online status on WhatsApp.

WhatsApp – You can control who can see your last seen, online status, profile pic, about, and status. If you hide the last seen and online status, then you won’t be able to see others’ statuses as well. It also has a Read Receipt option. When disabled, messages will not be marked with blue ticks. It goes both ways. So, no one will know if the messages are seen or not.

GBWhatsApp – In it, you can control these statuses with more precision which works only one way. You can freeze your last seen and stay online. You can hide your tying & recording statuses in the chats. Moreover, you can hide second and blue ticks, With it, you can read the messages without others knowing.

Call Privacy

WhatsApp – You can’t control who can call you on the official WhatsApp. Unless blocked, anyone can call you no matter if they are in your contacts or not.

GBWhatsApp – In it, you have full control of incoming calls. You can choose who can call you such as only your contacts, selected contacts, contacts excluding selected contacts, etc. You can block incoming calls if they are not saved in your contacts.

Image & Video Compression

WhatsApp – When you share an image, WA compresses it by 90% to reduce size. It greatly reduces the image quality as well. Likewise, when sharing a video, only 16 MB of video is sent after 90% compression.

GBWhatsApp – You can disable the compression setting to share images in their original quality. Also, you can share videos of up to 700 MB.

Forward & Broadcast Limit

WhatsApp – It allows you to forward a message to a maximum of 5 contacts and broadcast it to 250 contacts.

GBWhatsApp – You can increase the forward and broadcast limit to 250 and 1024 contacts respectively.

DND Mode

WhatsApp – DND mode is not available on it. To stop receiving messages on WA, you can only turn off the internet or clear its data.

GB WhatsApp – It has DND mode which cuts off the internet connection only for the GB WhatsApp. When enabled, you will not receive any messages or calls.

Is it Worth using GB WhatsApp?

Is it Worth using GB WhatsApp?

If we talk about the features, GBWhatsApp offers more amazing features than the official WhatsApp. It eliminates the limits while sharing media files. It has features to hide online visibility completely. Any user will want to use GB WhatsApp instead of the official one because of these features.

However, GB WhatsApp is not a legal application as it violates the Terms of Services of WhatsApp. It lacks end-to-end encryption that can pose risks to your private chats. Also, there are risks of GB WhatsApp collecting your data without your consent and sharing it with third parties. From the view of security, it’s not worth using.

Official WhatsApp also warns users not to use such unofficial WhatsApp MODs. If they find anyone using such apps will be banned temporarily at first and permanently after more attempts. So, it’s better to use only official WhatsApp.
